Video editor

Edit a video after it generates.

Videos, shorts and Voiceovers share one editor that keeps narration, visuals and timing in sync; choose a video product compares them. Changes save automatically and the preview updates without rendering. To share or download, see video library and sharing.

The Details tab beside Script holds the title, description and Series, and shows the type, orientation, creation date and Characters. Edit the title there or with the pencil beside the title in the top bar. Under Series, pick a Series or No Series, or click New to create one and move the item into it.

Edit narration

The script is split into paragraphs that match the audio segments. Text edits save on their own but never silently replace finished audio.

  • Split or delete: press Enter inside a paragraph to split it, or delete its text; neither marks anything stale. Deleting a paragraph removes its audio and closes the gap, and undo restores it.
  • Reword: rewording marks only that paragraph stale. Click its Regenerate Audio button to update it.
  • Change the host: choosing another Character on a paragraph changes only that paragraph, which stays stale until you regenerate it in the new Voice. To recast every paragraph, or every paragraph one Character speaks, ask the AI Assistant.
  • Your recording: a line from an uploaded recording is labeled Your recording · edits change captions only. Rewording it corrects the captions over the same audio. It cannot be removed, merged, reordered or given another speaker.
  • Pronunciation: fix how a word is spoken with the pronunciation control; see the pronunciation guide.

A paragraph with text but no audio, including one the voice provider refused, shows a highlighted Regenerate Audio button (Generate Audio if it was never voiced). If the provider refuses again, edit the wording or switch the host. Empty paragraphs need no audio. Requests are not queued, so if audio is already generating, wait and try again.

When you render, download or share with stale or missing narration, Jellypod asks whether to export the current audio, and missing lines stay unvoiced if you continue. See choose which audio to render.

Audio tags

Type audio tags such as [short pause] or [laughs] in square brackets. In Videos and shorts, Jellypod also writes tags when every host’s Voice supports them. If you switch a paragraph to a Voice without tag support, its tags turn into warning chips. Click one to open Audio Tags Unsupported, where you edit the Character’s Voice or clear the tags.

Edit visuals

The Visuals lane, the first lane in the timeline, shows each shot as a strip of thumbnails. Click a visual to select it and seek there. For Tier List boards, see Tier List.

  • Resize: hover the edge between two visuals and drag the handle, or focus it and press Left or Right. The first visual’s start is fixed. Drag the last visual past the end of the narration to hold it longer, which lengthens the video.
  • Replace: right-click a visual and choose Edit visual.
  • Add: click Add visual.
  • Delete: right-click and choose Delete visual, then confirm. The neighbor extends to fill the gap, and undo restores it.

Regenerating, replacing or deleting a visual leaves narration and timing unchanged. On mobile, Edit visual beneath the preview opens the visual at the playhead.

The visual dialog

Edit visual and Add visual open the same dialog:

Tab What it does
Generate Edit the prompt or write a new one, choose Image or Video, and generate. The button shows the credit cost: 7 credits for an image. Your prompt takes priority over the video’s art direction, while the style still applies.
Find media Search Wikimedia Commons and review each result’s author and license. Required credits stay with the video.
Library Reuse images and videos you generated, uploaded or imported, with no generation charge. Click Upload or drop a file to add one.

Pick a result to preview it, then click Save to apply it as one undo step. A preview keeps generating if you close the dialog, and the result is saved to Library. Dropping a file onto the dialog adds it to Library without replacing the timeline visual.

  • Generated video clips have up to eight seconds of motion; a longer slot holds the final frame.
  • Generation is charged when it succeeds, and applying the result adds no charge. See understanding credits.
  • If the image model declines a shot for its content, Jellypod says so instead of retrying. Edit the description and generate again.

Under the preview, Edit opens a dialog where you describe changes to the image. Crop opens Crop image: drag the image beneath the fixed frame, adjust zoom, or fit the whole image without stretching, then click Save crop. Crop affects only that visual, even if another uses the same file, and Voiceover visuals can return to automatic framing.

Drag and drop on the lane

Drag an image or video over the Visuals lane to preview the result before you release. Over the middle of a visual, it is marked Replace. Near either end, a line snaps to the boundary and dropping inserts a new visual that takes time from that neighbor, so the video keeps its length.

A GIF works like an image. Safari cannot preview long GIFs; use Chrome or Firefox, or upload an MP4.

Split a visual

Move the playhead to the cut, then click the scissors button in the timeline toolbar or right-click the visual and choose Split at playhead. The AI Assistant also splits on request, for example “split the third visual at 12 seconds”.

The video keeps its length, and each piece keeps its narration and its own copy of the prompt, so regenerating one changes only that piece. Each piece must be at least one second long, and undo rejoins them.

Transitions

Click + between two visuals to add a transition and choose its style and duration: Fade, Push cut, Slide, Wipe, Flip, Cube, Clock wipe or Iris. Generation adds some transitions in Videos and shorts, and before every Voiceover visual after the first. Click an existing transition’s icon to edit or remove it.

A transition belongs to the visual on its right and moves with it, and moving a visual to the first position removes its transition. Transitions never change narration, timing or total duration.

Visual effects

A selected visual shows a pill naming its effect: Zoom in, Zoom out or No effect. Click it, or right-click and choose Edit effect, to pick one and set Strength from 25% to 300%. Effects work on images, videos, GIFs and drawing reveals. An effect overrides the automatic zoom for that visual and lasts until you replace the visual.

Timeline

Narration and music sit in lanes beneath the Visuals lane, on the same timeline as podcasts: drag, trim, delete, adjust volume and fades, and zoom. Music can also be cut, copied and duplicated. A narration segment offers only Regenerate Audio, Edit Audio and Delete, because each paragraph has one take.

Visual timing reflows when narration audio changes, but pictures are not redrawn. If the narration under a visual changes enough that it may no longer fit, the visual gets a Needs regenerating badge. It still plays and exports until you regenerate it.

Captions, music and watermark

  • Captions: click Captions to browse and search caption styles, previewed on your first visual, or choose No Captions to turn them off. If your Brand Kit has a Heading font, choose Brand Kit or Style default under Font. Click Apply (followed by the style’s name) to save. New Videos and shorts start with their visual style’s caption style.
  • Music: click Add Music to set, swap or remove background music. Shorts can start with a generated score; Videos and Voiceovers start without music. To loop it or set a fixed length, see background music length and looping.
  • Watermark: click Add logo to place a logo in a corner. Plan availability, formats and size are in creation settings.

Missing visuals and files

If generation could not fill a shot, for example because the image model declined the prompt, the shot shows a dashed Missing visual placeholder. Click it to generate or replace the visual; a banner above the preview counts missing shots and links to the first. Rendering waits until every shot has a visual, though a previous render stays downloadable. If the whole generation failed, see video generation failures.

If a clip’s file was removed from your media library, the timeline marks it File missing and names the file. Playback skips it, but rendering, downloading and sharing fail until you replace the file.

Copy a video to a Podcast

  1. Open the video and click the ••• menu beside Script. On mobile, use the actions menu beside the title.
  2. Choose Copy to Podcast and select the destination Podcast.
  3. Click Copy to Podcast.

You get a separate, editable Episode with the video’s script, narration, speech timing and music. Copying does not regenerate audio or use credits, and the two copies stay independent. The same menu has Import script and Export script; see use your own script.

To go the other way, create a Video from an Episode.
