Voice cloning

Clone your own voice or a guest's.

A voice clone becomes a Character you can cast as a host. Clone only a voice you have the right to use; see content ownership and rights.

Clone your voice

  1. On the Voices page, click Create Voice Clone, then Clone your voice.
  2. Upload or record samples, tick the box confirming you have the rights and consents, then click Next. Jellypod marks anything that falls short.
  3. Jellypod clones the Voice and drafts a name, language and description from your samples.
  4. On Voice information, play the preview, edit the details, and click Finish Voice Clone.

If cloning fails, your samples stay in the dialog and the button reads Try again. If the Character fails to save after review, retrying reuses the Voice already cloned.

To give an existing Character a cloned Voice, edit it and choose Voice Clone as the Voice type.

Clone limit

Each active cloned Character and each pending guest invite uses one of your plan’s clone slots; archived Characters do not. See plan limits. At the limit, archive or delete a cloned character, delete a pending invite, or upgrade.

Audio requirements

Requirement Limit
Total audio across samples 30 seconds minimum, 60 seconds recommended
Each sample 10 seconds minimum
Number of samples 10 maximum
Audio file size 10 MB maximum
Video file size 500 MB maximum, and the extracted audio must be 10 MB or under

Clear audio matters more than length; aim for 1 to 2 minutes of clean speech.

Upload or record samples

Drag a file into the upload zone, click Browse files, or click Record Audio. Audio can be MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, OGA or FLAC. Video can be MP4, M4V, MOV, WEBM, MKV or AVI; Jellypod extracts its audio in your browser, and a file with no usable audio track shows an error.

Wait for every upload to finish, and retry or remove any marked Upload failed, before you continue.

For a better clone, introduce yourself and say what you do (Jellypod uses it to build the Character), record somewhere quiet, and vary your tone and pace.

Invite a guest to clone their voice

A guest can record a clone into your account without a Jellypod account.

  1. On the Voices page, click Create Voice Clone, then Invite a guest. Or click Invite a Guest on the Voice Clone Invites page (/characters/invites).
  2. Enter a Character Name and a Backstory, then click Create invite link.
  3. Copy the link, or enter the guest’s email and click Send email.

The guest adds samples that meet the audio requirements and submits. The Character appears on the Characters page as a regular Voice Clone, and you get an email.

A link works once and expires after 24 hours; for an expired link, create a new invite. Pending invites count toward your clone limit until you Delete them on Voice Clone Invites.

Fix a clone that sounds wrong

  1. Re-record. Noise, echo and a distant microphone carry into the clone. Use a clear, consistent tone with some variation, not a monotone read.
  2. Change the Voice style. In the Character’s Voice settings, More Consistent stays closest to the recorded voice. More Expressive is more emotive and supports audio tags like [whispers].
  3. Regenerate the speech blocks that sound off for a different rendering.

A natural accent usually carries over, but a put-on accent often drifts toward your everyday voice. To keep one, hold it through every sample and use More Consistent, or pick a Voice Library Voice with that accent.

If results stay poor, start over with higher-quality samples, or contact support.
