Creation settings
Settings to choose before you generate a video.
These settings live in the composer and apply when you create a Video or short or a Voiceover; choose a video product compares the three. Voiceovers have no visual style, orientation (they are always landscape), visual density, watermark or Brand Kit setting. Only shorts offer background music at creation, on by default.
Upload a script
Click Upload and choose Script. The script appears above the prompt and is narrated exactly as written. The prompt becomes optional visual direction for every visual, such as “show the workings instead of fraction bars”.
If your prompt or ready sources contain a finished script, Studio asks whether to use your exact words, which opens speaker review, or write a new script. Sources still processing when you click Generate become reference material for new narration. To keep their words, wait for processing to finish or upload them as a script.
Upload your recording
Click Upload and choose Your recording to use your own voice as the narration. Jellypod transcribes it for captions and adds visuals; it does not rewrite or revoice it. Dropping an audio file on the composer asks whether to Use as narration or Use as source material, which writes and voices a new script instead.
- Upload one MP3, WAV or M4A file up to 100 MB. A second audio file goes to your Asset Library.
- The recording is assigned to your first Character. Set the narration language to the language you speak.
- The recording sets the length: under 3 minutes makes a short, and longer makes a video, whichever tab you started on. The attached file shows its length and, when it differs, the product it will make. Orientation follows that product unless you pick one.
- Sources are unavailable while a recording is attached.
The recording is not charged as narration; you pay only for the visuals. Your plan’s length cap still applies. In the editor, recorded lines can be reworded to correct captions, but not removed, merged, reordered or given another speaker.
The Audio to Video Workflow starts from the same upload.
Duration
| Product | Presets | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Short | 30 s, 1 min | 30 s |
| Video | 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 25 min | 5 min |
| Voiceover | Auto, or 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, 60 min | Auto |
- The page or composer mode you start from decides whether you get a short or a video, not the duration. An uploaded recording is the exception; see upload your recording.
- Presets above your plan’s cap are locked and show an upgrade badge. See plan limits.
- With an uploaded script or recording, duration is Auto and comes from the script or recording.
- A short’s final length may vary slightly to fit the narration.
- For a Voiceover, Auto follows your files and never exceeds three quarters of your plan’s Voiceover cap. Its cost is estimated up front and settles to the narration produced.
Duration and visual density guide the script and the number of visuals, even if your prompt asks for something shorter. Upload a script for exact wording.
Orientation
| Orientation | Ratio | Default for |
|---|---|---|
| Portrait | 9:16 | Shorts |
| Landscape | 16:9 | Video |
| Square | 1:1 | Never chosen for you |
On desktop, use the aspect ratio button beside the duration control. On mobile, tap the settings icon and choose Orientation. Orientation is fixed once generation starts, so create a new short or video to change it. Episode video sets orientation in video templates.
Visual density
Visual density, under the settings icon, sets how often the image changes:
| Density | Each image covers |
|---|---|
| Light | Up to three sentences on the same idea, so the fewest images |
| Balanced (default) | One sentence |
| Heavy | One clause, so long sentences split at commas and the most images |
Images change only where the narration does, and each stays on screen for at least four seconds. The credit estimate beside Generate updates as you switch, and the charge settles to the images generated. Heavy is not available on the Free plan. Code Rush sets its own faster pace and ignores this setting.
Video description
Jellypod writes a description along with the title. Include show notes, on by default under the settings icon, adds the source URLs used to that description. Edit it later in the editor’s Details tab.
Narration language
The searchable language picker beside the Character picker sets the language the narration is written and performed in.
It starts from the dominant language of your selected Voices; with several hosts, the language more than half share. Otherwise it falls back to your browser language, then your region, then English. Changing the Character updates this choice until you pick a language yourself, and a prompt that explicitly names another language overrides the picker.
Watermark or logo
- Click the settings icon and choose Add Watermark/Logo (Edit Logo once one is set).
- Upload a PNG, JPG or WebP image up to 5 MB.
- Pick Top left, Top right, Bottom left or Bottom right.
- Click Save watermark.
Custom watermarks need a Creator, Business, or Enterprise plan; on Starter or Educator, adding one prompts an upgrade. To change it on a finished video, see captions, music and watermark.
Brand control
If your organization has a Brand Kit, a Brand Kit picker appears in the composer, set to the default kit, or No Brand Kit when no kit is the default. Pick another kit from the list, or pick the selected kit again to use No Brand Kit for this video. Not every style uses the full palette; see the style catalog.
Starting values
Settings are not remembered between creations. Each new short or video starts from that mode’s default duration and orientation, a starting style matched to the role you chose at sign-up, the first Character available to you, and a language from that Character’s Voice.
An unfinished creation’s prompt text and uploaded script reload in this browser after a refresh, until you generate. Sources and settings do not, and nothing syncs to teammates or other devices.
