RSS feed

Find your podcast's RSS feed and fix episodes missing from apps.

Every Public or Unlisted podcast gets an RSS feed, which podcast apps read to list your episodes, so you distribute the URL once per platform. A Private podcast has no feed: its URL returns not found to everyone, including anyone who had the link before.

Find your feed URL

On your podcast page in the Studio, click RSS Feed below the header, which needs a plan with distribution. On any plan, use Copy RSS Feed in the podcast’s actions menu, or RSS Feed in Share Podcast.

The URL is https://{your-subdomain}.jellypod.com/rss. Once you add a custom domain, Jellypod shows https://{your-custom-domain}/rss instead, and /rss keeps answering on both hosts. Submit the jellypod.com URL: links on our older domain redirect, but some apps do not follow redirects reliably.

To submit the feed, follow submit to podcast apps. Listeners can also paste the URL into any app that accepts RSS feeds, such as Pocket Casts, Overcast, or Snipd.

Automatic updates

The feed updates when you publish or unpublish an episode or change podcast details such as the title or cover art. Jellypod caches it for about 5 minutes, and platforms then pick up new episodes within a few minutes to 24 hours. YouTube is usually slowest.

If your subscription becomes inactive, the feed shows a single notice episode, “This Feed Has Been Disabled”. Your episodes are kept and return when you resubscribe.

What the feed includes

Feeds use the Podcasting 2.0 namespace: episode numbers, a unique podcast GUID, a locked tag that stops others from claiming the feed, and a transcript link on episodes with captions. They also carry a forwarding address for platform verification emails.

Episodes in a season get itunes:season and podcast:season tags, and their numbers restart at 1 within each season. Episodes without a season keep whole-show numbering.

Explicit content

When you publish, Jellypod scans the transcript and sets the Apple Podcasts explicit rating (itunes:explicit). To correct it, open Edit Episode Details and switch Explicit content on or off. Republishing scans again, so recheck the setting after you republish. The whole show is marked explicit when any published episode is.

Episodes not showing in apps

A missing episode is either not in the feed yet or the platform is reading the wrong URL. Check these in order:

  1. Episode status: the episode must be Published, not Draft or Scheduled. See episode statuses.
  2. Visibility: the podcast must be Public. A Private podcast has no feed. See podcast visibility.
  3. Feed URL: click RSS Feed on your podcast and copy the URL. It should match the URL the platform has on file.
  4. Feed contents: paste the URL into a browser. You should see XML listing your episodes.

If an episode is still missing after 24 hours and these checks pass, contact support with your feed URL.

Update the feed URL on a platform

Replace an old address with your current feed URL. Feeds submitted under our older domain can fail silently, because some platforms do not follow its redirect to jellypod.com. Menu names on these sites change, so look for the show’s settings or RSS feed field.

  • Spotify: in Spotify for Podcasters, open your show’s settings and replace the RSS feed URL.
  • Apple Podcasts: in Apple Podcasts for Creators, select the show and replace the RSS feed URL.
  • YouTube: in YouTube Studio, open Podcasts, remove the existing podcast feed, and submit the current URL again. This is usually the fastest fix.
