title: Voiceovers
description: Add narration to slides and documents you already have.
---

Jellypod narrates your documents and images without redrawing or replacing them. For generated visuals, use [Videos and shorts](/videos); [choose a video product](/choosing-a-video-product) compares all three video Products. Voiceovers live in the Videos library, where a format filter shows only Voiceovers.

## Create a Voiceover

1. Open Home and select Voiceover in the composer, or open Videos in the sidebar, click Create Video and choose Slides or PDF to Voiceover Video.
2. Choose one to four Characters and a [narration language](/video-creation-settings#narration-language). The duration defaults to Auto; other presets are in [creation settings](/video-creation-settings#duration).
3. Add up to 10 files: drag them onto the composer, click + to browse, or pick existing files from the [Asset Library](/sources/source-library).
4. Optionally add direction for the audience, tone or key points.
5. Click Generate.

Generate is available as soon as you add a file, and files still uploading or processing continue in the background. Uploaded files also become reusable sources in the Asset Library.

With several Characters, narration hands off between them at natural breaks and uses each at least once; reassign paragraphs in the [video editor](/video-editor). Narration can draw on [web research](/podcast-agent/how-the-podcast-agent-works#web-research) for background beyond your files. To avoid it, say so in your direction.

Jellypod opens Videos, where the card shows progress. If generation fails, Retry generation reuses your uploaded files; see [video generation failures](/video-generation-failures).

## Supported files

| Type | Formats |
| --- | --- |
| Documents | PDF, PPTX |
| Images | PNG, JPEG, WebP |

Each file can be up to 100 MB, and all files together can hold up to 50 pages or images combined. Every PDF page, slide and image counts, so splitting pages into several PDFs does not help, and a PDF the Asset Library accepts can still exceed the limit. Export other presentation formats to PDF or PPTX.

Pages inside a document stay together in their original order. Jellypod arranges separate documents and images into an initial sequence.

If a file fails to process, the Voiceover fails with that file's error. Follow the message, and retry the upload if Jellypod asks for it. If it still fails, re-export the file as PDF, PNG or JPEG and create a new Voiceover with it.

## Speaker notes

Jellypod reads each slide's speaker notes from a `.pptx` as context for that slide's narration; a deck without notes works the same. Notes are intent, not a script: Jellypod narrates their substance and drops stage directions such as timing cues. Your direction outranks both slides and notes.

A `.pptx` exported from Google Slides keeps its notes; a PDF export does not.

## Visuals, zoom and captions

Jellypod shows a full page for context, then can focus on a graph, figure, table or section while the narration discusses it, keeping captions, labels and legends with their content. When a crop could lose content, it shows the whole visual over a matching solid color instead. Reframe any visual in the editor afterward.

- Zoom effect (settings menu beside the duration selector): Auto holds document and presentation pages still and gives photos, including figures pulled from a page, a subtle zoom. On zooms every visual; Off keeps all still.
- Captions are off by default, since slides often show the text already. Turn them on in the same menu, or later from Captions in the editor.
- Transitions: every visual after the first gets a slide transition, which you edit, replace or remove in the editor.

Creation has no visual style, Brand Kit, watermark, orientation or background music choice, and the result is always landscape. The editor adds a watermark and background music, but not a Brand Kit or a visual style.

## Credit cost

A Voiceover costs 30 credits per minute of narration and nothing for visuals. Regenerating narration afterward is free. Auto length is priced once generation finishes. See [understanding credits](/getting-started/understanding-credits), and [plan limits](/account-and-billing/plans-and-pricing#plan-limits) for length caps.
