title: SCORM exports
description: Export content as a SCORM package for your LMS.
---

A SCORM export is a ZIP for your learning management system (LMS) with a player that reports progress and completion and lets learners resume. Captions, a transcript and your workspace logo come with it when available.

SCORM exports need Business or Enterprise, on an eligible trial or active plan (see [plan limits](/account-and-billing/plans-and-pricing#plan-limits)).

## Hosted or included media

Under Hosting, choose where the media lives:

- Hosted by Jellypod (updates automatically), the default: the ZIP holds a small player that streams the media from `share.jellypod.com`. Upload it once, and courses that use it play each new export of the content.
- Included in the ZIP (works offline): the media file is inside the package. Use it when learners have no internet access or your network blocks outside media. To update the course, export again and replace the package in your LMS.

Hosted packages need learners' browsers to reach `share.jellypod.com`. If your organization restricts outbound traffic or framed content, ask your IT team to allow that domain.

## Download a SCORM package

1. Open the content in the editor and click Download, or use the download dialog on an Episode page, then choose Download as SCORM.
2. Choose [Hosting](#hosted-or-included-media), then set the File name and Completion criteria. The threshold defaults to 90% and goes from 5% to 100% in 5% steps.
3. Under File type, choose SCORM 1.2 for the widest compatibility or SCORM 2004 4th Edition if your LMS supports that edition.
4. For Episodes, choose Audio (MP3) or Video (MP4) under Media. Videos, Shorts, and Voiceovers export as video.
5. Optionally check Prevent skipping ahead to limit seeking to what the learner has already played.
6. Click Download, then upload the ZIP to your LMS as a SCORM activity or course package, intact unless your LMS says otherwise.

Editor downloads save pending edits and render the current version; Episode-page downloads use your latest saved edits. If narration needs updating, Jellypod asks whether to regenerate audio or use the existing audio.

## Choose a format for your LMS

Use the version and edition your LMS documents; "SCORM 2004" support may mean an edition other than Jellypod's 4th.

| LMS | Format guidance from vendor documentation |
| --- | --- |
| Moodle | Use 1.2 for the native SCORM activity. [Moodle's FAQ](https://docs.moodle.org/en/SCORM_FAQ) says native SCORM 2004 support is not maintained. |
| TalentLMS | Use 1.2. Its [supported protocols](https://help.talentlms.com/hc/en-us/articles/9651360207132-How-to-work-with-the-supported-eLearning-protocols-SCORM-1-2-xAPI-and-cmi5-in-TalentLMS) list SCORM 1.2. |
| Docebo | Use 1.2. [Docebo's guide](https://help.docebo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020128479-Uploading-and-managing-SCORM-as-training-material) lists 2004 3rd Edition, not 4th. |
| 360Learning | Its [eLearning import guide](https://support.360learning.com/hc/en-us/articles/38322663301268-Create-a-course-by-importing-an-eLearning-file) lists 1.2 and 2004 4th Edition. Confirm which player your organization uses. |
| Litmos | Its [content authoring page](https://www.litmos.com/platform/content-authoring/) lists 1.2 and 2004. Confirm 4th Edition with your administrator before choosing 2004. |
| Cornerstone | Confirm the supported version and edition with your LMS administrator. |

These are vendor claims, not tested Jellypod compatibility, and Jellypod has no published SCORM Cloud or LMS certification. See [SCORM 1.2 versus 2004](https://www.jellypod.com/blog/scorm-1-2-vs-2004) for the practical differences.

## Test before assigning learners

Upload one ZIP to your LMS. A reference player such as [SCORM Cloud](https://rusticisoftware.com/products/scorm-cloud/) does not replace that test. As a test learner, play part of the media, exit, and reopen it to check resume, then play past the threshold and check the completion record, on the devices and browsers your learners use.

## Update a hosted package

A hosted package plays the newest finished export of its content in the same media type, audio or video. To update a course, edit the content and export it again: a download, a new SCORM export or a publish all count. Learners who open the lesson after that export finishes see the new version, with no upload to your LMS.

Every hosted package for the same content and media type shares one link, so older uploads update too. Deleting the content stops all of its hosted packages, and so does losing a plan that includes SCORM exports.

## Learner progress and completion

Completion counts the portion of media the learner has watched or listened to; skipped sections do not count. At your threshold, the package reports passed in SCORM 1.2, or completed and passed in SCORM 2004. It reports playback completion only, with no quizzes or scores.

Progress and position save to the LMS during playback and when the learner pauses or exits. Resume depends on the LMS keeping that learner's attempt. When a hosted package switches to a new version, saved progress and completion carry over, so a learner who finished a shorter version stays complete.

## Troubleshooting [#plans-and-troubleshooting]

- Download fails: the media must finish rendering before packaging. For render problems, see [video generation failures](/video-generation-failures).
- LMS rejects the package: confirm it supports the SCORM version you chose and accepts the ZIP's file size.
- Player says Preview mode: it saves nothing outside an LMS. Open the package from your LMS's learner view.
- Hosted lesson says This lesson is not available right now: check that the content still exists, that your plan includes SCORM exports, and that it has a finished export in the package's media type.
- Hosted lesson stays blank: your LMS or network may block `share.jellypod.com`. Allow the domain, or export with Included in the ZIP.
