title: Channels
description: Connect social accounts and publish Videos and Shorts to them.
---

A Channel is an account on another platform that Jellypod can post to: a YouTube channel, or a TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, or other channel in your Buffer account. Publishing a Video or Short to a Channel posts it there without downloading the file; Episodes reach podcast apps through [publishing and distribution](/publishing-and-distribution) instead.

Channels need a paid plan, and each plan caps how many your workspace can connect (see [plan limits](/account-and-billing/plans-and-pricing#plan-limits)). Your workspace can publish to Channels when Channels appears in the Studio sidebar.

## Connect a Channel

Open Channels in the Studio sidebar, or Settings → Channels, and click Connect on a provider's card:

- [YouTube](/publishing-and-distribution/publishing-to-youtube) adds the YouTube channel you authorize.
- [Buffer](/publishing-and-distribution/publishing-to-buffer) lets you pick which channels in your Buffer account to add.

Only workspace admins can connect, change, or remove Channels. Connected Channels are shared by everyone in the workspace, and you can connect more than one account per provider. The page groups Channels by the platform they post to, and the counter shows how many of your plan's Channels are in use.

## Set Publish defaults [#publish-defaults]

Open a Channel's menu on the Channels page and choose Publish defaults (YouTube) or Channel settings (Buffer). Every Publish to that Channel starts with these settings, and you can still change them each time.

Turn on Auto-select when publishing to have the Channel start checked in the Publish dialog.

## Publish a Video or Short

1. Open the Video or Short and click Publish.
2. Check one Channel and click Continue to open its form, or check several to publish to them together.
3. Review the post and click Publish.

Jellypod renders the latest version first if needed, then uploads in the background, so you can keep working. A notice says when the post is live, with a link to view it.

The Publish dialog lists your Channels and marks one to start from:

- Series default: the Channel a Series names. Open the Series menu on the Videos page, choose Default channel, pick a Channel, and click Save. Remove default clears it.
- Last used: without a Series default, the Channel you last published to.
- Auto-selected: Channels an admin set to start checked.

A Channel that cannot take the video says why on its row, for example when the video is too long for that network. Publishing the same render to a Channel again asks first and creates a second post. Jellypod never edits or deletes a post once it is live.

### Publish to several Channels

Checking several Channels opens one form with a single post text, sent with each Channel's own Publish defaults. The text must fit the shortest limit among them. A Channel whose defaults are missing a required answer, such as YouTube's audience setting, is skipped until you set it on the Channels page.

## Upload status and failures

A row in the Publish dialog shows Publishing while an upload runs and Queued while it waits for [YouTube's daily limit](/publishing-and-distribution/publishing-to-youtube#daily-upload-limit). If the last attempt failed, the row says why.

When a Channel needs you to sign in again, the Channels page shows Reconnect needed or Permissions missing with a Reconnect button, and [Insights](/publishing-and-distribution/insights) lists it as a takeaway. Refresh connection in the Channel's menu signs in again at any time.

## Disconnect a Channel

Open the Channel's menu and choose Disconnect channel. Jellypod removes the Channel with its publish history and in-app analytics. Posts already published stay on the platform.
