Every [AI Podcasts](/podcasts-and-episodes) Episode has a video preview, shaped by the template and aspect ratio set above it.

## Choose a template [#full-screen-captions]

Click Video Style above an Episode's video preview, select a template card, then click Use.

Templates are fixed layouts, so the preview updates instantly, nothing is generated and your audio and script are untouched. Karaoke is the default for new Podcasts and Episodes.

The background comes from the Background control next to the template picker. Without one set on the Episode, it comes from the Episode's [Brand Kit](/brand-kits#on-a-podcast), then the Podcast's background, then the Podcast cover, or dark gray when there is no cover. A Brand Kit's fonts also style the title, description and captions.

| Template | What it shows |
| --- | --- |
| Classic Audiogram | A waveform synced to the audio, with the Podcast cover art |
| Conversation | Host avatars that pulse as each person speaks, with live captions |
| Classic Captions | Captions in clean typography over a styled background |
| Full Screen Captions | Large captions that fill the frame over the Background color, with no waveform or avatars |
| Spotlight | Captions that emphasize key words as they are spoken |
| Karaoke | Large, centered captions with word-by-word highlighting |

## Aspect ratio

Open the Orientation dropdown above the video preview and choose an option. The preview resizes immediately.

| Orientation | Size | Good for |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Landscape (16:9) | 1920x1080 | YouTube, website embeds, desktop |
| Portrait (9:16) | 1080x1920 | TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels |
| Square (1:1) | 1080x1080 | Instagram feed, X, LinkedIn |

Landscape is the default. For several ratios, [download the video](/podcasts-and-episodes/downloading-video-and-audio), switch orientation and download again.

If both controls show "Video appearance is temporarily locked", try again shortly.

## Save as the podcast default [#save-your-choice-as-the-podcast-default]

When your template or orientation differs from the Podcast's default, a prompt appears under the controls, for example "Use Karaoke for every new episode?" Save as default applies it to new Episodes of this Podcast; existing Episodes don't change. Not now dismisses the prompt, and the Episode keeps your pick either way. You can also set both in [Video settings](/podcasts-and-episodes/editing-podcast-details#video-settings).

## Episodes don't carry generated visuals [#episodes-dont-carry-generated-visuals]

Generated video isn't available as an Episode template or Podcast default. AI-generated video starts in [Videos and shorts](/videos); see [Choosing a video product](/choosing-a-video-product).

An Episode that had generated visuals now has that video as a separate Video in your Videos library, titled after the Episode. The Episode keeps its audio and feed entry and renders on a Podcast Template, Karaoke if its Podcast's default was Videos.

## Create a Video from an Episode [#create-a-magic-video-from-an-episode]

1. Open the Episode and click Video Style.
2. In the Magic Video has moved banner above the templates, click Create Video.
3. Choose a visual style, then click Generate (~… credits) to confirm the estimate.

Jellypod creates a separate, editable Video with new visuals, reusing the Episode's narration, timing and music without regenerating audio. The estimate covers the new visuals. To go the other way, [copy a Video into a Podcast](/video-editor#copy-a-video-to-a-podcast).
