title: Upload your own episode
description: Publish a recording you made outside Jellypod.
---

Upload a recording made elsewhere to publish it as is through Jellypod hosting, from any Podcast in [AI Podcasts](/podcasts-and-episodes). You need the rights to what you upload; see [content ownership and rights](/account-and-billing/content-ownership-and-rights).

## Upload an episode

1. Open Podcasts in the sidebar and select your Podcast.
2. Click more options (...) next to Edit Website, then choose Upload Audio.
3. Drop your file into the dialog, or click Browse Files.
4. Enter an Episode Title (required), an Episode Description and optional cover art.
5. Click Publish Episode once the upload finishes.

:::warning
There is no draft step. The Episode goes live on your website, RSS feed and connected platforms as soon as you click Publish Episode.
:::

Upload any audio or video file up to 250 MB. Podcast feeds serve audio as MP3, so the dialog converts any other audio format to MP3 in your browser before it uploads.

## What uploaded episodes lack

An uploaded Episode has no script or timeline editor, and it can't be [duplicated](/podcasts-and-episodes/managing-episodes#duplicate-an-episode). You can still edit the title, description and cover art. To swap in a new recording for a published audio Episode, use [Replace audio](/publishing-and-distribution/publishing-an-episode#updating-a-published-episode).

To pull it from your feed and website, [unpublish it](/publishing-and-distribution/publishing-an-episode#unpublish-an-episode). Republishing brings the same file back.

## Which import option?

Choose Upload Audio when the recording is final. For an editable script voiced by your Hosts, use [Import NotebookLM audio](/podcasts-and-episodes/importing-notebooklm-audio) with any MP3, WAV or M4A, or [Use your own script](/podcasts-and-episodes/use-your-own-script).

## Troubleshooting

- "Invalid file type": the file isn't audio or video. Export it as an audio or video file.
- Upload fails or the file is rejected: check it is 250 MB or smaller, then retry.
- "Could not measure the uploaded audio duration": Jellypod couldn't read the file's length. Re-export the file and try again.
- "Unable to publish episode": try again. If it keeps failing, [contact support](/#get-help-and-support).
