title: Add music
description: Add music to an episode.
---

Music for an [AI Podcasts](/podcasts-and-episodes) Episode is added from the editor's playback bar. For Videos, Shorts and Voiceovers, see the [video editor](/video-editor#captions-music-and-watermark).

## Add a music track

1. In the playback bar below the script editor, click Add Music.
2. Click Add on a row:
   - Intro Music: plays first and pushes the conversation later.
   - Background Music: loops under the conversation on its own track.
   - Outro Music: plays after the last take.
3. Choose a track from Jellypod Library (stock tracks and ambience beds such as a café, rain or a fireplace) or Your Uploads. To add your own, click Upload or drop files onto the dialog. A single upload goes straight onto the timeline.

The row only decides where the track starts; after that, music is an ordinary clip in the [timeline editor](/podcasts-and-episodes/using-the-timeline-editor).

When your Podcast has no default for that slot, or you picked a different file, Save as podcast default? offers to use it for future Episodes. Not now keeps it for this Episode only. Defaults live in [Episode music defaults](/podcasts-and-episodes/editing-podcast-details#episode-music-defaults).

## Background music length and looping

Each background clip has a length setting on a pill in its lower-left corner. Click the pill, or right-click the clip, to switch:

- Fits conversation: the default. Ends where the dialogue ends, and adjusts when audio generates, lines are regenerated or deleted, or speaker spacing changes.
- Fixed length: keeps the length you set. Dragging a clip's edge switches it to this, and older background clips count as Fixed length until you choose Fits conversation.

Drag the right edge of any music or uploaded clip past the end of its file to loop it. Dashed lines mark each restart.

## Remove a music track

Delete the clip on the timeline. This removes it from this Episode only; your upload stays in Your Uploads.

If the file is this Podcast's default for that slot, Remove podcast default? asks whether to clear it for future Episodes (Remove Default) or change only this Episode (Keep Default). Don't ask me again skips the prompt for that Podcast.

To delete an uploaded track from your library, choose Delete Music from its row menu in the [Asset Library](/sources/source-library#delete-a-source). The dialog names every Episode, Video and Podcast that loses the track.

## Generate a podcast intro

Jellypod can compose an original instrumental intro of about 8 seconds from your Podcast's title and description. New Podcasts have no intro until you add one.

1. Open the Podcast's actions menu and choose Episode Music.
2. Next to Intro, click Generate, or the sparkle icon to regenerate an existing intro.
3. Optionally describe the sound in Creative direction, up to 500 characters, such as "warm analog synths, optimistic, quick and modern".
4. Click Generate Preview. It can take up to a minute.
5. Click Save Intro to make it the default, or Regenerate Preview to try again. Closing without saving discards the preview.

A saved intro applies to future Episodes only. To use your own instead, pick any audio from your media library as the Intro in Episode Music.
