title: Create your first episode
description: Make and publish your first episode.
---

This [Get started](/getting-started/what-is-jellypod) walkthrough assumes you already [created a podcast](/getting-started/creating-your-first-podcast). You describe the episode, and the [Podcast Agent](/podcast-agent/how-the-podcast-agent-works) researches, writes and voices it. Publishing needs the 7-day free trial or a paid plan; see [Free plan and trial eligibility](/account-and-billing/plans-and-pricing#free-plan).

[Making Your First AI Podcast Episode | Jellypod 101, Ep 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-Bmt1K6OFo)

## Pick a podcast

On the Studio dashboard, click Create a Podcast Episode and choose your podcast. Or open a podcast and use the Create New Episode box above its episode list. A podcast with no episodes shows Create your first episode in place of the list.

## Describe the episode

Type your idea into the chat input, or click a suggestion based on your show. Name the topic, tone and format; see [write a strong prompt](/podcast-agent/how-the-podcast-agent-works#write-a-strong-prompt). Before you send, set:

- Hosts: the podcast's hosts by default, or others for this episode.
- Duration: 7 minutes by default. Click the stopwatch to pick 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45 or 60 minutes. Length limits by plan are in [plan limits](/account-and-billing/plans-and-pricing#plan-limits). If the script runs more than half over its target, Jellypod cuts it back before generating audio.
- Auto-publish: off by default, so the episode stays a draft. Turn it on to publish as soon as generation completes.
- Include show notes: on by default. Lists your sources in the episode description.

Click + to attach [sources](/sources/what-are-sources) such as websites, YouTube videos, pasted text or files. To start from a finished script, click Upload Script (on mobile, open Settings first); see [use your own script](/podcasts-and-episodes/use-your-own-script). To plan several episodes, see [generate a series](/podcast-agent/how-the-podcast-agent-works#generate-a-series). Click send to start.

## Watch it generate

The agent writes the script and generates the audio in one pass, with no outline to approve. Each line becomes its own audio segment, voiced by its host.

The episode appears in the podcast's list with live progress, and generation continues if you leave the page. Click the row to watch in the editor; editing controls unlock when the output is ready ([episode statuses](/podcasts-and-episodes/episode-statuses)). Narration uses [credits](/getting-started/understanding-credits) when it is first generated. If generation fails, clicking the row opens a Generation failed dialog; see [if episode generation fails](/podcasts-and-episodes/episode-generation-failed).

## Review the script and audio

Play the episode and read along in the [script editor](/podcasts-and-episodes/using-the-script-editor). Edit any speech block, then click Regenerate Audio on that block to re-voice only that segment. See [regenerate individual segments](/podcasts-and-episodes/regenerating-individual-segments).

## Publish

With Auto-publish on, the episode is already live. Otherwise, click Publish Episode. Your podcast website and RSS feed update right away. To update a live episode, schedule one or publish to connected platforms, see [publish an episode](/publishing-and-distribution/publishing-an-episode).
