title: Credit top-ups
description: Buy extra credits without changing your plan.
---

Top-ups add credits to your balance without changing your plan or renewal date. They cost $10 per 1,000 credits, with a 1,000-credit minimum, and need billing permission, usually the Admin role. Which plans include them is in [Plans and pricing](/account-and-billing/plans-and-pricing#features-by-plan), and what generations cost is in [Understanding credits](/getting-started/understanding-credits#how-credits-are-consumed). Other [billing guides](/account-and-billing) cover plans and invoices.

## Buy credits

1. Go to Settings → Billing and click Buy credits on the Account balance card.
2. Type a dollar amount or pick a preset. Amounts round up to the next 1,000 credits.
3. Check New balance, then click Purchase credits.

Larger top-ups include bonus credits at no extra cost: +10% from 5,000, +15% from 10,000, and +20% from 20,000. The preset buttons show the total with the bonus.

A saved card is charged right away. Without one, or if your bank needs extra authentication, you finish in Stripe checkout. A payment that's still processing adds its credits when it settles. Receipts are in [Invoices and usage](/account-and-billing/viewing-invoices).

## Set up auto top-up

1. On the Account balance card, click Set up next to Auto top-up (Edit if it's on).
2. Turn on Enable auto top-up.
3. Set When balance falls below and Credits to add, then click Save.

The default adds 2,000 credits whenever your balance drops below 1,000, charged to your default card, with the same bonus tiers. Auto top-up pauses if a payment fails or no card is saved; fix the card, then save again.

## How top-up credits behave

Top-up credits never expire, are spent after your plan's monthly credits, and stay in your account if your subscription ends. If you top up often, a [higher plan](/account-and-billing/managing-your-subscription) includes more monthly credits.
